ASSESSMENTS/COUNSELLING:
The assessor will be in touch via email or Phone to confirm how the remote assessment will take place. Please check your Junk Email. The assessment is free-of-charge. Where necessary, you may be asked to provide further information about the responses provided on the original assessment booking form. This call will allow us to determine which counsellor will be suitable for you. In some cases, we may cancel your assessment booking, but we will let you know and signpost you appropriately.
You may cancel or reschedule your counselling appointments up to 48 hours in advance of your initial consultation for a full refund. Please note, this must be done directly by email. Cancellations made within less than 48 hours will incur a full fee. We will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs.
SHC maintains the right to terminate therapy at any point.
Remote/Virtual Counselling: Prior to your session, please take steps to ensure that conversation cannot be heard by unauthorised third parties in the same building. Using headphones is advised. Please ensure you log-into to your virtual counselling platform at the time of your session.
CONFIDENTIALITY:
Some clinical conditions are not suitable for remote consultations. SHC is not suitable for managing emergencies and is not a crisis intervention service. For emergencies, please call 999 or go to your local A&E. Assessments will not take place without the appropriate GP information.
As Safehaven Centre offers counselling for mild to moderate presentations, we may reach out to your GP, or any other professionals involved in your care, to determine whether SHC is the right service for you. We may ask them details about your diagnosis, medication, and any risk related to your mental health.
We may also inform your GP or psychiatrist that you have attended an assessment or are receiving counselling at SHC to establish an open line of communication. if we are worried about your safety, or the safety of someone else, we may also reach out to emergency services. Where possible, SHC will endeavour to inform you of such communications.
SHC will treat your information with care and respect and will only share information, or request information, that pertains specifically to your mental health.
SHC has an ethical and legal responsibility to report drug trafficking, and possible terrorist acts.
WEEKLY SESSIONS:
Due to the nature of working with trainee counsellors, SHC is only able to offer weekly sessions.
PAYMENT:
We accept bank transfer into the account details that will be email to you after the assessment. Payment must be made 24 hours before counselling sessions, failure to make payment may result in sessions being paused or terminated.
YOUR COUNSELLOR:
We will make every effort to book you in with a counsellor who suits your needs. If you are unsatisfied with your counsellor, we will do our best to change your counsellor, subject to availability.
NO PROFESSIONAL ADVICE:
If the Counsellor provides professional information, such information should not be construed as professional advice. You should seek independent professional advice from a person who is licensed and/or qualified in the applicable area. Our Counselling Services are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek your GP advice or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it due to the Services. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or 999 immediately.
ETHICAL PRACTICE:
Safehaven Centre adheres to the BACP Ethical Framework guidelines, and each practitioner additionally practices according to the ethical principles of their own training organisation. SHC does not and shall not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
DISABILITIES:
If you have a disability, visible or invisible, please let us know at the time of booking your assessment and we will make the necessary adjustments to accommodate your needs.
MODIFICATION OF THE TERMS:
SHC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these Terms at any time. You agree to review these Terms and any Guidelines periodically for changes. When we make minor changes to the Terms, we will update the ‘last modified’ date at the top of this page. When we make changes to the Terms in a material manner, we will update the ‘last modified’ date at the top of this page and notify you that material changes have been made to these Terms. If any such revision is unacceptable to you, your only remedy is to terminate your SHC counselling.
