Supervision Policy

Supervision is essential to how practitioners sustain good practice throughout their working life. Supervision provides practitioners with regular and ongoing opportunities to reflect in depth about all aspects of their practice, to work as effectively, safely, and ethically as possible. Also, to sustains the personal resourcefulness required to undertake the work.

At Safehaven Centre (SHC), All our counsellors has BACP Organisational Membership and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Supervision is provided by a supervisor who is a qualified counsellor, with additional qualifications in supervision and considerable practice experience.

All placement counsellors are required to be enrolled in a BACP, UKCP, BABCP or BPS accredited training. SHC will offer fortnightly supervision, either individual or group depending on the number of clients. Trainees with 2 clients can attend a fortnightly group of 1 hour. Trainees with 3 clients can attend a fortnightly group of 90 minutes. Trainees with 4 clients can attend individual supervision.

The BACP Ethical Framework can be assessed from the website of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
